Artist’s Garden: Brooklyn, NY

The directive for this Brooklyn Heights property was to create layers of surprise. Front and back gardens were essentially a blank canvas, but for a lone sassafras.  The back is accessed through a series of terraces, opening to a dynamic rhythm of stone paths and layered perennial plantings. In contrast, the shadier front garden was densely planted in an edited palette of green and white varieties for texture and year-round interest.
